DaVinci Resolve is Getting Faster as Latest Update Boosts IntelliSearch and OGraf Playback

Blackmagic Design has pushed out version 21.1.2 of DaVinci Resolve, and the headline improvements center on speed. Users working on Apple M6 hardware can expect IntelliSearch analysis to run up to 14 times faster than before - a meaningful gain for anyone relying on the tool to search footage semantically during an edit. OGraf playback has also been accelerated, now running up to four times faster across both the Edit and Fusion pages.
IntelliSearch, Resolve's AI-driven footage analysis feature, lets editors search clips by describing their content in plain language rather than relying on manually applied metadata. As the volume of footage on any given project grows, faster analysis directly reduces the time between ingesting media and being able to search it usefully. The M6 speedup suggests Blackmagic is actively tuning the feature to take advantage of Apple's latest silicon as it becomes more widely available.
OGraf, Blackmagic's graphics and motion template system, receives several improvements beyond raw playback speed. Templates now adapt responsively to the timeline's aspect ratio, stop actions are placed using action durations for more predictable behavior, and select and multi-select controls are now supported. Crucially, OGraf and Lottie graphics support has been extended to Linux, bringing that platform closer to feature parity with macOS and Windows for graphics-heavy workflows.
The update also addresses a wide range of smaller issues, including fixes for anamorphic video output in Fusion, smart bin search behavior, collaboration project in-out range handling, and a loudness meter reset problem on the Cut page. Timeline editing sees refinements too - lasso-selecting edit points can now trigger dynamic trim automatically, and selecting edit points for gaps activates the trim editor directly. For editors who work primarily through keyboard and timeline interactions, these small behavioral changes can add up to a noticeably smoother experience over the course of a long session. The update is available now from Blackmagic Design's website.
