Adobe Expands Its AI Integrations to Gemini, Plus Further Powers Up With Claude
Adobe has been steadily building out a network of AI assistant integrations, and its latest move adds Google's Gemini to a list that already includes ChatGPT, Slack, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude. The new Adobe in Gemini plugin follows the same basic model as the others: users can invoke Adobe tools - Photoshop, Lightroom, Express, and Firefly among them - from within a standard Gemini conversation, without switching applications. Tasks like adjusting product photography, resizing designs for social media, or customizing branded templates can be initiated through natural-language prompts.
The Gemini announcement comes alongside a meaningful expansion of Adobe's Claude plugin, which has been updated to include Acrobat tools for the first time. That addition brings the total number of accessible tools in Claude to more than 80, spanning Acrobat, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign, and Adobe Stock. The practical effect is that users can now handle document work - merging or splitting PDFs, redacting content, converting file formats - within the same Claude session they might use for visual design work.
Beyond the Acrobat addition, Adobe has introduced interactive editing capabilities in Claude that go a step further than conversational controls alone. A new layer-based editor for Express designs lets users select and adjust individual elements - images, text, colors, fonts - without regenerating the entire design from scratch. On the document side, a new PDF editor and a Document Review skill allow Claude to annotate a file with analysis and suggestions directly inside the editor, which could be useful for workflows involving contracts, reports, or other structured documents.
Adobe has indicated that the Gemini launch is intended as a starting point, with further integrations and platform expansions on its roadmap. Both the Gemini plugin and the updated Claude plugin are available now - the Gemini integration across all Gemini plans, and the Claude update across desktop, mobile, and web, including Claude Code.
