Adobe Expands Music Options in Premiere Mobile With Major Music Group Partnerships

Adobe has struck licensing deals with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Warner Music Group (WMG) to bring music from well-known artists directly into Adobe Premiere mobile. The partnerships mark a notable step for the mobile editing app, which has been steadily building out its feature set to appeal to a growing segment of content creators who work primarily from their phones rather than desktop workstations.

Together, UMG and WMG control a substantial share of the world's most commercially prominent music catalogs, meaning the library available to Premiere mobile users should include artists and tracks that creators are already familiar with. Usage will be limited to personal, non-commercial purposes, which positions this as a tool for social content and personal projects rather than paid commercial work. Each clip is capped at 60 seconds per video.

Alongside the music partnerships, Adobe is updating Premiere mobile with a set of audio-focused tools. Users will be able to browse and search tracks by artist, genre, and duration, bookmark favorites, and explore curated collections assembled by the labels. The app will also offer music-powered templates - pre-built edit structures that pair a track with a visual layout so creators can build around the audio from the start. On the technical side, existing features like Enhance Audio for background noise reduction and Adobe Firefly-powered AI asset generation remain part of the package.

The broader context here is a competitive mobile editing market, where apps are increasingly differentiating themselves through licensed content and AI-assisted tools rather than raw editing capabilities alone. For Adobe, deepening the music integration in Premiere mobile is a way to retain relevance with creators who might otherwise turn to platforms that already offer built-in licensed audio. Availability of the UMG and WMG catalog in Premiere mobile is expected soon.

Google wants video AI to understand what people need as they work

Google researchers have built StreamVibe, a video AI agent designed to observe people doing hands-on tasks and offer assistance only at the moments it is actually needed. A new benchmark reveals that current models struggle significantly with this timing problem, especially as videos grow longer and errors accumulate.

China’s First Fully AI-Generated Film is Crashing and Burning at the Box Office

China's first fully AI-generated feature film has hit theaters nationwide, but early returns suggest audiences are not warming to the format. Despite an opening day that included 10,000 screenings, the film is struggling to find a meaningful box office foothold. The release marks a notable moment for generative video AI, even as the commercial reception raises questions about audience readiness.
