Google's Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash makes AI video generation cheaper and more flexible

Google has rolled out an update to its Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash video model that focuses on three concrete improvements: better scene analysis for extensions, longer output limits, and a faster, cheaper rendering option. The changes are incremental but targeted at real friction points that users have encountered when working with AI video generation in production contexts.
The most notable technical change is in how the model handles scene extensions. Previously, it analyzed only the last second of existing footage when generating a continuation - a narrow window that made it difficult to maintain consistent motion, lighting, or subject behavior across a cut. The updated model now looks back across up to ten seconds of prior footage, giving it substantially more context to work from. The result should be smoother, more coherent extensions that better reflect what was already happening in a scene.
Alongside the extended context window, Google has raised the ceiling on how long a scene can be extended. Users can now add footage in 10-second increments up to a total of 40 seconds, compared to shorter limits previously. This makes it more practical to build out longer sequences through iterative generation rather than having to stitch together entirely separate clips.
The third addition is a 360p draft mode designed for speed and cost efficiency. It runs up to 60 percent faster than the standard output and is priced at roughly a third of the usual cost. Draft mode is aimed at workflows where creators want to preview timing, composition, or motion before committing to a full-resolution render - a standard step in traditional video production that has been largely absent from AI video tools. Together, these updates suggest Google is paying close attention to how the model is actually used in iterative, budget-conscious creative pipelines.
