Runway News | Introducing Runway for Premiere Pro & After Effects

Runway has released plugins for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, embedding its generative AI tools inside the applications that many professional editors and motion designers already work in daily. The integration appears as a panel within each app, meaning users no longer need to switch between Runway's web platform and their editing software to incorporate AI-generated content into a project.
The core capabilities available through the plugins include image generation, video generation, and footage restyling - the last of which applies Runway's visual style transfer to clips already sitting on a timeline. Any output produced inside the panel can be placed directly into an open composition or sequence, keeping the workflow within the familiar structure of Premiere Pro or After Effects rather than requiring a separate export-and-import step.
For editors who have been using Runway's web tools alongside Adobe software, the practical change is a reduction in friction. Assets no longer need to be manually transferred between platforms, and iterating on a generated clip can happen in the same context as the surrounding edit. For studios with established Adobe-centric pipelines, the plugin format also means AI-assisted generation can be adopted without restructuring existing workflows.
Runway has been building out its model lineup - including its Gen-3 Alpha video generation model - over the past year, and this plugin release is a distribution step rather than a model update. The focus here is on accessibility and integration, bringing existing capabilities to editors where they already spend their time. It follows a broader industry pattern of AI tool providers moving toward embedding their functionality inside established creative software, rather than asking users to migrate to standalone platforms.
