Runway News | Runway is Now in DaVinci Resolve
Runway has announced a direct integration with Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve Studio, bringing its AI generation tools into one of the most widely used professional video editing and color grading applications. The plugin allows editors to generate video and image content, apply restyling effects, and drop resulting clips onto their timeline - all without leaving Resolve's interface.
Previously, using Runway alongside a professional editing workflow typically meant working across two separate environments: generating assets in Runway's web application or desktop client, then manually importing the output into the editing software. That context-switching adds time and breaks creative momentum, particularly during iterative editing where adjustments are frequent. A native plugin removes that round-trip.
DaVinci Resolve Studio has steadily grown its footprint among professional editors, colorists, and post-production studios, making it a logical target for an integration of this kind. Runway has been expanding access to its generation models across different surfaces, and embedding directly into editorial software represents a push toward making AI-assisted video creation a standard part of post-production pipelines rather than a standalone step.
The integration supports Runway's video and image generation alongside restyling capabilities, which can apply visual treatments to existing footage. For editors, this means AI-assisted tasks - whether generating supplemental footage, creating stylized versions of existing clips, or producing placeholder visuals - can happen in context with the broader cut. As AI generation quality and speed continue to improve, integrations like this one will likely become a common expectation rather than a differentiating feature.
