Runway News | Introducing Runway App Studio

Runway has launched App Studio, a no-code environment within its platform that allows users to create custom AI-powered applications capable of generating images, video, and audio. The tool is designed to lower the barrier for teams that want to build tailored generative AI experiences without relying on engineering resources.

App Studio connects directly to Runway's Brand Kits and Workflows - two features the company has been building out as part of its push toward enterprise and creative team adoption. Brand Kits allow users to store visual guidelines and assets, while Workflows enable the sequencing of AI generation steps. By tying App Studio into these existing systems, Runway is positioning the tool as a way to productize internal creative processes and make them accessible to broader teams.

The no-code approach means that a creative director or producer could, in theory, configure a generation tool once - complete with brand-specific parameters - and then share it with a whole team as a self-contained app. This reduces the need for non-technical collaborators to navigate the full Runway interface, while still giving them access to its underlying generation capabilities.

Runway has been steadily expanding its platform beyond a single-model video generator toward something closer to a full creative production suite. App Studio fits into that trajectory by making its tools more distributable and easier to standardize across organizations. For teams already using Runway for video or image work, it represents a practical way to formalize and share those processes without building custom tooling from scratch.
